Graco Stroller Recall Lawsuits

This week, Graco was prompted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to issue a recall of roughly 4.7 million strollers because they can cause serious injury to babies and young children. The recall was echoed by similar agencies in Mexico and Canada. According to reports, a defective folding hinge on the recalled strollers may cause accidental amputation of a young child's finger. If your child has been injured by a Graco stroller involved in this recall, you could be entitled to compensation.

Why are Recalled Graco Strollers so Dangerous?

At the time of the recall, Graco had been alerted to 11 cases where small children were injured by the strollers in question. The Graco web page dedicated to the recall states that folding hinges on the recalled strollers "could in rare circumstances have the potential to pinch a child's finger, posing a laceration or amputation hazard." Injuries reported include:

  • 1 finger laceration
  • 4 partially-amputated fingertips
  • 6 fully amputated fingers

To learn whether your child's stroller is a part of the recall, you can visit GracoBaby.com or call the recall hotline. If your stroller is affected by this defect, Graco will send you a simple-to-install repair kit. In the meantime, Graco urges that "caregivers should exercise extreme care when unfolding the stroller to be certain that the hinges are firmly locked before placing a child in the stroller."

Has your Child been hurt by a Recalled Graco Stroller?

Though Graco did act upon injury reports to issue this dangerous stroller recall, it is clear that the recall was too late to help keep at least 11 children safe from painful injuries which will permanently disfigure some.
