A Navy fighter jet crashed into a Virginia Beach apartment complex just after noon today. Seven people have been reported injured; there have been no fatalities reported.
According to reports, four civilians, two crew members and a police officer are being treated for injuries. So far, search crews reported to have checked the wreckage of two buildings. No one has been found injured in the rubble. Search crews have two more buildings to check.
According to USA Today, witnesses said they saw the pilots dump fuel before they ejected, preventing what could have been a massive explosion. Witnesses also said the pilots stayed in the aircraft as long as possible to prevent the jet from crashing into a school.
Both pilots were reportedly treated for injuries; one pilot has been reported to be in good condition and the other was reported to be in fair condition.
The majority of the residents are 55 or older. Nearly 65 people have been misplaced by the crash. The cause of the crash has not been determined.
